Walk4Water takes place every two years. In 2008 250+ walkers took part and raised the grand sum of £18,000 for WaterAid. In 2010 164 people took part. See Walk4Water 2010 for details and photos of this year's walk. The sponsorship totalled £10,346.
The next walk will take place on Sunday 13 May 2012.
Choose your distance:
Walkers choose one of three distances: 16, 10 or 6 miles, starting respectively at Solent Beach (near Hengistbury Head), Branksome Dene Chine or Shell Bay, all walking roughly southwest and finishing in Swanage.
Register: Walkers need to register at least three days before the walk. For details please see the Register page.
Easy route beside the sea: The walk is
along Bournemouth and Poole seafront promenades, then it follows the coastal path via the Sandbanks ferry to Studland and over Ballard
Down to the finish in Swanage, the Gateway to the Jurassic Coast, a World
Heritage Site. The route is level all the way, apart from walking up onto Ballard Down (marvellous views) and down the other side.
View
from Ballard Down to the northeast over Studland and Poole Harbour.
Finish:
The Finish is in St. Edward’s Church Hall, Rempstone Road, Swanage, BH19 1AH. There are car parks nearby for
relatives and friends meeting walkers. Please arrange your own return transport.
Coach transfer:
For those walking
the 16 and 10 mile routes, coaches will
leave the 'Main' car park in Victoria Avenue, Swanage to take them to their start points. The coaches leave at 09:00.
Come and support
others whilst enjoying a day out in lovely surroundings. Why not take a
weekend break? There
is a wide range of accommodation in the area.
